The colour language

Three states, understood without training

The whole point is that a new hand on a busy Friday reads the board correctly in their first hour. No manual, no legend on the wall.

On time

Comfortable window

Teal means the order has room. Work it in normal sequence - no need to jump the queue.

Urgent

Window closing

Orange means the clock is getting tight. This is the ticket that should be moving now.

Breached

Promise slipping

Red is reserved for genuine breaches, so it still means something when it appears.

Station-based routing

Each item lands at the station that makes it, so the grill sees grill work and the packing bench sees what is ready to box.

Glance-readable numerals

Bold tabular countdowns sized to be read from across the kitchen, not squinted at over the pass.

Escalation before breach

An order flips to urgent while there is still time to save it, not after the window has already closed.
